Qatar’s labor laws have seen progressive updates to align with international standards and improve worker rights.

Major Updates

  • Job Mobility: Workers can change jobs without employer permission after completing contract or 1 year of service

  • Minimum Wage: QR 1,000/month plus QR 500 (food) and QR 300 (housing) if not provided

  • Wage Protection System (WPS): Salaries must be paid via bank transfer

  • Working Hours: 8 hours/day, 48 hours/week; reduced hours in summer for outdoor work

  • End of Service Benefits: One month’s salary per year after a year of work
