Moving to Qatar with Family: Residence and Visit Visas Guide

Overview

Supports expats sponsoring their spouse, children, and in some cases parents, for long-term (residence) or short-term (visit) stays.

1. Family Residence Visa

Requirements for Sponsor:

  • Valid QID & work/resident permit.

  • Minimum salary: QAR 10,000–15,000/month (or QAR 6,000 with employer housing).

  • Suitable housing (verified via tenancy contract).

Documents Required:

  • Sponsor’s QID, employment details, salary certificate, tenancy contract.

  • Attested marriage certificate and children's birth certificates.

  • Passport photos (4×6 cm).

  • Medical and police clearance for each family member.

Process:

  1. Apply via Metrash2 or MOI.

  2. Pay visa fees.

  3. Visa issued within 2–6 weeks.

  4. Enter Qatar and complete QID issuance.

2. Family Visit Visa

  • Valid up to 30 days, with one possible extension.

  • Requires passports, photos, relationship proof, sponsor’s QID, employment and tenancy proof.

  • Usually processed within 5–10 days.
