Bringing Pets to Qatar: Rules, Quarantine & Requirements

Qatar is pet-friendly, but strict rules apply to import dogs and cats. Start planning at least 30 days in advance.

Requirements

  • Import Permit: Issued by Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality & Environment

  • Microchip: Mandatory for identification

  • Vaccination Records: Rabies (at least 30 days old but less than 1 year)

  • Health Certificate: Issued within 7 days of travel by a licensed vet

Banned Breeds (for Dogs)

  • Pit Bull Terrier

  • Rottweiler

  • American Staffordshire Terrier

  • Japanese Tosa

Arrival & Quarantine

  • Some pets may need a 21-day quarantine

  • Must arrive as manifest cargo, not as checked baggage

  • Collect pets from cargo terminal at Hamad Airport
